As with all wood, it's not dishwasher safe nor ideal to leave soaked in water.
A simple handwash wipe down the item after use will get all the blood, I mean tomato puree pizza sauce off your axe.
Works fine on the vast majority of pizzas you'll be throwing in your oven, but anything with a very thick crust you may want to go at with a knife or a different pizza cutter, as the pizza cutter blade only protrudes out by about an inch.
